Let’s do a little rewind on where it all started. Studying at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts is what catapulted me into my passion for visual storytelling, where I specialised and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film. After my graduation I started working as a freelance filmmaker and video editor, and did many jobs for different clients. Music videos, documentaries, corporate films; I wanted to try it all.
When I felt like I had outgrown Maastricht, the place I call my roots, I moved to Amsterdam where I got the chance to be part of the filmcrew for a new Discovery Channel documentary series called Expedition to the Edge about a sailing community called ‘Infinity Expedition’. I lived aboard the ship and captured the story behind the expedition (raising awareness for climate change) and all the people involved, for Infinity’s upcoming voyage to Antarctica.
About a year later, I moved a bit more south, where I was working as a full time video editor for an independent film production company in Arnhem called ‘No Bullshit’. They were specialised in TV commercials, corporate films, and sometimes even Netflix films.
Then I realised that I needed something more; more variation and a broader spectrum of daily activities. So a new adventure began; Coef Men. A high-end fashion retailer with 8 stores across the Netherlands and a webshop. I worked as an in-house photographer and filmmaker, as part of the marketing team at their headquarters in Nijmegen. At Coef I directed many concepts for shoots, e-commerce, campaigns, and social media content.
This journey took me to where I am standing today. I am thankful for all the skills I collected and the dear people I’ve met along the way. It is time though, to explore more. I’m an open-minded individual, eager to learn and create.
I hope my skillset has sparked your interest, and I would be happy to make our paths cross!
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Lieke
